McDonald’s breakfast bagels are returning to Iowa for the first time since 2020

Apr. 17, 2024 6:15 am
McDonald’s breakfast fans have a new chance to say “I’m Lovin’ It” at their golden arches.
McDonald’s breakfast bagel sandwiches returned to menus this month for the first time since they were discontinued four years ago. The return comes in four varieties: egg and cheese; bacon, egg and cheese; sausage, egg and cheese; or steak, egg and cheese, which includes grilled onions
The return is only being rolled out regionally, including markets across Iowa. But the return is not a test — McDonald’s says the menu item will be around for the foreseeable future.
“We have heard loud and clear from customers that they miss some of their favorites at McDonald’s — the number one request being steak bagels,” said Scott Soifer, operator and owner of locations across Eastern Iowa.
The bagel sandwiches were removed from menus along with a number of other items as the fast food giant transitioned to a limited menu to expedite service and safety during the pandemic.
