Thomas “Tom” Eugene Reddin, 77, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024, in his home. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 19, 2024, at St. Ludmila, followed by military rites. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Cascade.
Thomas was born on November 30, 1946, in Monticello, the son of Charles and Doris (Emerson) Reddin. He graduated from Western Dubuque High School, Class of 1964. Tom served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, from 1965-1971. He worked for the Rock Island and Milwaukee Railroads for many years. Tom was united in marriage to Mary Palumbo on June 17, 1978, in Cedar Rapids. He enjoyed fishing, camping, feeding wildlife, cooking, gardening, and most of all spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren.
Tom is survived by his wife Mary; children Jeff (Ann) Reddin, Jeremy Reddin, Crystal (Justin) Reddin-Powers; grandchildren Autumn (Tyler) Janiak, Tyler Reddin, Aaron Reddin, Elaina Reddin, Alley Pauley, Mikahla Powers and Thomas Powers; three great-grandchildren; his mother Doris Reddin; his siblings Gail (Dave) Weitz, Bob (Ann) Reddin, Galen Reddin and Amy Ehlinger; his son-in-law Ron Pauley; his brothers and sisters-in-law Mike (Jennie) Palumbo, Doug (Denise) Palumbo, Larry Palumbo, David Palumbo and Carol (Mike) Lackey; as well as his nieces and nephews.
Tom is preceded in death by his father, his daughter Jennifer Pauley, his sister Cathy Myers, his mother and father-in-law Marcella and Mike Palumbo, his sister-in-law Marcene Brooks.
Memorials may be directed to Legacy of Faith – St. Ludmila or Disabled American Veteran in his name.
