Robert Thompson, age 93, passed away at Sanford Hospital, Fargo, ND.
Bob was born in Traer, IA, graduated from Dysart HS, graduated from Westmar College with BA, and graduated from Iowa State Teacher’s College (UNI) with MA+. Bob served in the Army, Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, as a Training Drill Staff Sergeant.
Bob taught Industrial Arts in Van Horne, IA 1955-60, Belle Plaine 1960-61, and Cedar Rapids Jefferson where he taught woodworking and carpentry 32 years from 1963-95.
Bob and Grace lived in Cedar Rapids from 1963 through 2024. They recently moved to Battle Lake, MN. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in 2023. Bob loved fishing in Minnesota, golfing, boating and woodworking, and was an avid Hawkeyes fan.
Robert was preceded in death by parents Herbert Thompson and Anna Thompson, siblings Roma Jean (Thompson) Dicken and Donald Thompson, and son Paul Thompson.
Robert is survived by wife Grace Thompson, brother Jim (Vicky) Thompson, sister-in-law Sharon Thompson, son David (Beverly) Thompson, daughter-in-law Linda Thompson, grandchildren Nicholas (Angel) Thompson, Tia Thompson, Clarissa Caro (Maurice) and Casey Bouzek, plus 6 great-grandchildren.
