Claire Edward Bowers, 90, of Center Point, passed away Monday, Oct. 22, 2018, at UnityPoint Health-St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point. Funeral service: 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at Alice United Methodist Church, Center Point. Burial: Alice Cemetery, Center Point.
Claire was born Feb. 15, 1928, in Center Point, the son of Roy and Anna (Nass) Bowers. He married Bernice Sanborn at Alice United Methodist Church on Dec. 20, 1947. Claire was a lifelong farmer who enjoyed fishing, hunting and his trips to Minnesota. He loved his time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Claire is survived by his children, Gary of Walker, Michael of Center Point and Barbara of Marion; daughter-in-law, Diane; grandchildren, Shane, Kelly, Stacy and Kristen and their families; great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Caden, Abby and Collin, Alyse, Soren, Anastasia, Olivia and Alexis; brother, Ralph Bowers of Martelle; and sister, Phyllis Ciha of Lisbon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bernice; son, Jerry; sister, Marjorie; and brothers, Paul, Dean and Russell Fay.
