Janice C. DeVries, 82, died Monday, April 8, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospital following an extended illness. Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 Thursday, April 11, 2024, at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa. There will be private family graveside services at the Green Center Cemetery, Morley. Surviving are her husband Gary, 3 stepchildren, Jason DeVries, Arlene McRoberts and Gus England; 2 stepgreat-grandchildren, Katelyn and Kylie McRoberts; and her siblings John (Sue) Jaeger, Daniel Jaeger, and Charlotte Lutz. She was preceded by her parents, and siblings, Elmeree, Sylvia, David and an infant sister, Phyllis.
Janice Carol Jaeger was born June 16, 1941, at John McDonald Hospital, Monticello, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer and Lodema Wells, Jaeger. She graduated from the Monticello Community Schools in 1959. Janice worked at Tedrow’s Sweet Shop while in high school. Janice then started her 39-year career at Square D in Cedar Rapids. Janice and Gary DeVries were married July 2, 2012 at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. When she wasn’t working, she baked and decorated wedding cakes, she loved Christmas with all the baking and candy making and time spent with family and friends.
