Donald C. Weiss, 85, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, at Trinity Lutheran Church, where a visitation will begin at 10 a.m. The Rev. David Renfro will officiate. Burial: St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Victor. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Eloise; his son, Jim (Kelly) Weiss of Ballwin, Mo.; his grandchildren, Dan, Mike and Katie Weiss, all of Ballwin, Missouri; his sisters, Jane (David) Rinderknecht of Wycoff, N.J., and Joan (Roger) Sanders of Des Moines; and a brother, Maynard Weiss of Victor.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Darlene Weiss; and a sister-in-law, Lois Weiss.
Donald was born June 24, 1933, in Lincoln Township, Iowa County, the son of Clarence and Viola (Floerchinger) Weiss. He married the love of his life, Eloise Turner, on March 21, 1958, at Grace Lutheran Church in Blairstown. Donald retired after 30 years with the Quaker Oats Co. He served in the Army as a military policeman during peacetime. Donald was an active member with Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. He enjoyed watching sports, NASCAR racing and traveling with Eloise. He also was an avid golfer. Donald was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a friend. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
