Jay Wilson Wiley Jr., 71, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2018, at Cottage Grove Place in Cedar Rapids. Memorial service: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Inurnment: St. John's Memorial Garden, Lafayette, Ind., at a later date.
Jay was born Dec. 14, 1946, the son of
Jay and Eleanor (Breemes) Wiley, in Milwaukee, Wis. He graduated from Purdue University with his bachelor's in civil engineering and then went on to receive
his master's in civil engineering from California Institute of Technology. Jay lived in California for 40-plus years, where he worked on earthquake-proofing buildings.
Jay was an avid photographer. He had traveled on many safaris and to Alaska several times throughout his life, where he enjoyed capturing all things nature.
Survivors include his cousin, Judy Matousek of Hiawatha; and other cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and several cousins.
