Margaret R. Eden, 89, of Sun City, Ariz., formerly of Lone Tree, died Sunday, June 3, 2018. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on July 6, 2018, at Lone Tree Presbyterian Church, 110 W. Elm, Lone Tree, Iowa. Burial will be at Lone Tree Cemetery.
Margaret is survived by her children, Pati Lembo (James), Pamela Scott (Brent) and Jeff Eden (Bernice); grandchildren, Lauren Brenner (Justin), Ryan Scott, Renee Williams (Jason) and Nicholas Scott; and great-grandchildren, Abigail and Grant Brenner. Other survivors include Wendell and Betty Eden, Beverly and Don Felt, Delores Eden, David and Lavon Kirkpatrick and Betty Kirschner. She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Anna Griebel; brother, Ray; and her husband, Donald F. Eden.
Margaret was born Aug. 31, 1928, in Guttenberg, Iowa, the daughter of Michael and Anna Griebel. She married Donald F. Eden on Aug. 21, 1949, in Lone Tree, Iowa. They were married 52 years.
She graduated from Lone Tree High School in 1945 and from the University of Iowa in 1949. She served as treasurer of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She taught business classes in high schools in Shoshoni, Wyo., Brighton, Iowa, and Iowa City, Iowa. She worked for the San Luis Valley HMO where she retired as marketing director. She was very active in the communities she lived in, serving as Girl Scout and Boy Scout den leader, Democratic committeewoman, Heart Fund and American Cancer Fund drive chairman, secretary of Women's Civic Club, president of PEO, Presbyterian deacon, elder, president and honorary member of Presbyterian Women's Group, singing in church choirs and serving on the board of Palmbrook Country Club and as president of Ladies Breakfast Club.
