My Biz: Fizz Wagon offers sweet sips around Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS — Danni Pace knows how to concoct a tasty beverage. And she’s got the perfect vehicle to take her fizzy drinks around the metro area.

Fizz Wagon Dreamsoda is a mixed soda and energy drink shop (on wheels) where customers order their favorite soda and mix it with fruit purées and flavors to create their own delicious drink.

“There’s really nothing like this in our area,” Pace, 27, said in describing what she calls the city’s first mobile soda shop. “There are other coffee shops, sure, but they basically serve the same things.

“I’m serving mixed soda and energy drinks. It’s unique, and it still gives you the boost you’re looking for in terms of energy,” she said. “It gives you a tasty treat, and it gives you another option rather than alcoholic beverages.”

Pace started the business in 2023 after deciding she wanted to be her own boss, converting a horse trailer into a soda trailer.

“I wanted to be in control of my own life and my own time,” she said. “But opening Fizz Wagon was a huge risk. I had no previous experience owning a business or mixing beverages. This was a huge career change.”

But her excitement and creativity paid off.

“I am now serving up drinks that bring joy to people,” she said. “It’s really a fun experience. Who wouldn’t want to be a Fizzhead?”

While the business has not been around for long, it has already garnered a loyal following.

“So far I have received an outpouring of support from the community,” said Pace. “I’m starting to recognize people when they walk up and build relationships with them.”

She also noted that Fizz Wagon is pretty consistently booked for corporate events, parties and markets.

“This business can be challenging just keeping up with all the places people want me to go. I love it though!”

Pace said she’s most excited to participate in all the many markets around the area this year.

Mobile business

Being a mobile business definitely has its advantages in terms of being able to attend a variety of events. And she lets devotees know where she’ll be parked each week via Facebook postings.

“I enjoy getting to know my customer base, serving them delicious drinks, and experimenting with tons of different combinations to bring crazy flavor combinations to people,” Pace said.

“And, of course, I also enjoy the freedom that it has given me to work for myself and do what I want to do every day.”
