Darla June Clark
Darla June Clark
Lakewood, Colorado
Darla June Clark, 87, formerly of Cedar Rapids, IA, passed away on February 24, 2024, in Lakewood, CO, where she was living with her husband of 54 years Jack Townsley Clark, since October of 2020.
Darla grew up in Belle Plaine, IA, the daughter of Orrin and Pearl Moeller. She graduated from the University of Iowa in 1958 with a B.A. in Education and moved to Cedar Rapids where she taught First Grade at Johnson Elementary.
While attending Iowa, Darla was a drummer with the Scottish Highlanders bagpipe and drum band. Besides half-time game performances at Iowa, the Highlanders performed at the White House during the Eisenhower administration and appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show in New York, prior to departing abroad aboard the Queen Mary for a three-month tour in Europe.
Darla married Jack, the love of her life, in 1970. They spent many wonderful years together, enjoying sailing and boating on the lakes and Mississippi River in IA, eventually falling in love with the mighty Mississippi where they purchased a summer cottage on Abel Island in Guttenberg. Darla and Jack had a wonderful social life with an amazing group of dear friends, both in Cedar Rapids and Guttenberg.
Darla and Jack spent their winter vacations skiing in resorts, mostly in Colorado. They also enjoyed many memorable trips to the Caribbean, snorkeling, sailing and generally carousing with Darla’s older brother Arlyn and his wife Lee. Their other favorite winter retreat was Siesta Key, FL.
Besides Darla’s husband Jack, she is survived by her daughter Kris Walker (John) of Littleton, CO and their children Collin Walker and Rachael Walker; her grandson, Quinn Clark (Laura) and their toddler son, Jack Townsley Clark II; granddaughter Taylor Compo (Jesse); her twin brother Darby Moeller (Carol) and several nieces and nephews and their families.
Darla was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved son Todd Clark, and her brother Arlyn Moeller.
Darla was interned at Cedar Memorial Park on March 19, 2024.
