Big Grove Brewery announces 2024 grant recipients for Linn, Johnson counties

Mar. 28, 2024 5:45 am
IOWA CITY — Big Grove Brewery has announced the nonprofit recipients of $48,000 in 2024 grants for Linn, Johnson and Polk counties.
This year’s Linn County recipients are Young Parents Network, which offers parenting classes for first-time parents, and Eastern Iowa Arts Academy, which makes arts accessible to K-12 students through programming in public schools and a local campus of music and art studios.
This year is Big Grove for Good’s first time offering grants in Linn County, following the brewery’s December taproom opening in Cedar Rapids.
Johnson County recipients are the Antelope Lending Library, an independent bookmobile dedicated to providing equal access to information, and Wright House of Fashion, which offers youth engaging opportunities to gain experience in fashion and apparel design.
Each recipient, selected from a pool of almost 200 applications, received $8,000.
“We were overwhelmed with the response and interest in our grant program again this year,” said Mikala Demet, Big Grove’s Community & Project manager. “Our grant committees in each location spent hours reviewing each application and discussing who we could best partner with and support the work they do in our communities.”
