William Francis Clancy, 91, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday morning, March 23, 2019, at the Hiawatha Care Center. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church by the Rev. Christopher Podhajsky. Entombment: Saint Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 Second St. SE, and after
9 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
William is survived by his wife, Joyce; two sons, David William (fiancee Debra Miller), rural Blairstown, and Michael Arthur (Trista Cortez), Cedar Rapids; and a sister, Mary Alphin, Seattle, Wash.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Carmen Marie; his parents; four brothers, Joseph, Maurice, Arthur and John; and one sister, Joan Clancy.
William was born June 28, 1927, at Mercy Hospital, Cedar Rapids, to Arthur and Winifred (Cahalan) Clancy. He attended Saint Patrick's school and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
William was united in marriage to Joyce R. Graves on Feb. 2, 1957, in Iowa City. He was employed by the Quaker Oats Co. for 36 years until his retirement. He was a longtime member of Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church.
A memorial fund has been established.
