Julie "Jules" Jones, age 60, of Topeka, KS died on Nov. 24, 2023 at Stormont Vail Hospital.
Julie was born Nov. 22, 1963 at Waterloo, IA to Lowell "Jonesey" Jones and Dorothy "Dode" (Anderson) Jones. They lived in Belle Plaine, IA when she was younger. They moved to Holiday Lake, near Brooklyn, IA in 1977. She graduated from BGM High School, Brooklyn, IA in 1982. She attended the University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA and Drake University in Des Moines, IA. After college, she made Des Moines her home, where she worked in advertising and was a bartender.
She moved to Topeka, KS. She married Robert Edward Lee. He died on Nov. 30, 2010.
She was an avid Hawkeyes fan and attended many football games with her dad. They also had a tradition of going to the Indy 500 every year. While living at Holiday Lake, she loved water skiing in the summer and snowmobiling in the winter. More recently, she loved working at several bars, riding her Harley and doing word puzzles every day. Julie had a special place in her heart for her pets. She always said they were her 4-legged children.
Julie will always be remembered for her spunk, stories, attitude, sense of humor and laugh.
Interment will be on May 4, 2024 in Oak Hill Cemetery, Parkersburg, IA. Her parents and husband preceded her in death.
A memorial fund has been established at First State Bank, P.O. Box 532, Brooklyn, IA 52211.
