Control has corrupted state Republicans

It’s remarkable to me how rapidly the near-sacrosanct principle of local control has been replaced by state control.
Your town wants to try a new economic model? Not in Iowa! Want to keep your gender private? Oh, no, that needs to be posted on your driver’s license. Your local library wants to support freedom of expression, speech, and the press? I think not.
Where there’s whiff of individual liberty, you can be confident there’s a state law coming for that. Let’s compel all students to sing the national anthem every morning, too — that’s what makes kids love this country. Experts can’t be trusted, but your State Republican politicians can!
Seriously, is there anything they won’t regulate? Besides guns and agribusiness, I mean. As clearly as ever, absolute power corrupts absolutely.
