Bernard “Bernie” L. Kennebeck, 79, of Anamosa, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Mass will be held on March 23, 2024 at 10:30 am, with a visitation beginning at 9:30 am, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Anamosa. A committal will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Bernard was born on June 27, 1944 to Edward and Ethel (Remington) Kennebeck in Anamosa. He was united in marriage to Claudia Sisco on December 27, 1969. Bernie was a graduate of Olin High School. He drove cement truck and was an inspector of cranes at P & H Harnischfeger and worked at Goss for some time. He then retired from Super 8 Motel as manager with Claudia. Bernie enjoyed the Iowa Hawkeyes, fishing, hunting, gardening, and bird watching. He was a sparring partner to Golden Glove boxers and a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
He is survived by his children: Greg Kennebeck (Patricia); Sherry Kennebeck; Terry Kennebeck (Jill); and Dana Kennebeck all of Anamosa. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Also surviving are his siblings: Jim Kennebeck, Bill (Linda) Kennebeck, and Connie (Keith) Christensen.
Bernie was preceded in death by his wife, Claudia; and his parents.
