Duaine Wilson Smith was born Jan. 14, 1940, in rural Johnson County, the son of Leland and Ruth (Malmberg) Smith. Growing up in Tiffin, he attended and graduated from Tiffin High School with the class of 1957. Duaine married Judith Linn Henderson on Feb. 2, 1963. Prior to a long career with Amana Refrigeration as a design engineer, Duaine had worked for MeJon near Cosgrove, and for Frank's Service Station in Tiffin. Duaine was a man who could do anything from construction to mechanical, and one who was more than happy to share his talents with many. He enjoyed bowling, horses, the farm and his memberships in the NRA and Amana Sportsman Club. But, he would tell you, most important in his life were his family and many friends!
His family includes his two children, Rory and Tracie Smith; brother, Dale Smith and his wife, Virginia; sister, Darlene Kasper; sister-in-law, Blanche Smith; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Duaine was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Judy; brother, Darrel; and brother-in-law, Virgil Kasper.
Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Duaine's family and his services.
