Muriel Hope Fonck, 91, of Cedar Rapids, IA passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at the Rehabilitation Center of Lisbon. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 PM on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM Monday, March 18, 2024, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial will follow the service and take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Muriel was born October 25, 1932, in Dubuque, IA. She graduated from Dubuque Senior High School. She married Marcel “Mark” Francis Fonck on February 19, 1955, in Dubuque, and together they had four children. Muriel worked at several other companies throughout the years she thoroughly enjoyed, including Westside Sewing, Landmark Luggage, and Lindale Mall customer service. Muriel’s passion in life was sewing and creating beautiful quilts and served as Vice President of the Eastern Iowa Quilters Guild.
She is survived by her children, Peggy (Smoke) Wilson, Catherine Bascom, and Chris (Robin) Fonck; eleven grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren.
Muriel is preceded in death by her husband (1999), daughter Kristine Fonck (2015), and her parents, Clarence and Florence (Reid) Murphy.
