Shirley Mae Jones, 80, of Cedar Rapids passed away on Friday, March 8, 2024 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories Stateroom. A private graveside will be held at a later date.
Shirley Mae Jones was born on January 28, 1944 to Rudolph and Mary (Papeck) Milota in Cedar Rapids. She was united in marriage to James Stanley Jones on January 9, 1970 in Galena, Illinois. She retired from Collins Aerospace after many years of working there. Shirley enjoyed road tripping with her family, camping in her motorhome, fishing, playing bingo and going to the casino. Her best memories were spent with all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an avid dog lover.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Darryl (Tina) Jones, Tami (Jesse) Soden, Scott (Gwen) Jones, and Ronda (Brian Andeway) Jones; 8 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; and her 8 siblings.
