Donald Gene Timmons, 66, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2018. A memorial potluck set up by Narcotics Anonymous will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Mission of Hope. A celebration of life also will be held at a later date.
Donald is survived by
three sons, Dustin (Nikki) Timmons of La Porte City; Josh (Kelsey) Timmons and Tyler Timmons, both of
Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren, Austin, Hayley and Kylie Hart and Abel, Lydia and Braedon Timmons; and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; aunt, Mary Jones; and ex-wife, Karen Wellner.
Don was born Aug. 17, 1952, and was adopted by Doris and LaVerne Timmons. He married Karen Freeman in 1983 and they had one child together; they later divorced. He married Ellen Timmons and had two sons with her, and they later divorced as well. Don loved making music and was an amazing drummer. He drummed in bands including Madness, Akasha, Misguided Mikey, Full Circle and Night Moves. He was happiest when spending time with his family or jamming with friends. He lost his battle with cancer on Aug. 31, 2018.
