RICHARD H. "RICK" MEYER JR.

Richard H. "Rick" Meyer Jr., 68 of Hastings, died peacefully at home on Jan. 4, 2019.

Richard Harold Meyer Jr., the son of Richard Harold Sr. and LeEtta (Schrimper) Meyer, was born on May 4, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Following his graduation from Linn Mar High School with the Class of 1969, Rick continued his education at Kirkwood Community College and received a degree in AGF floral design. Rick worked for several floral shops in the Cedar Rapids, Minneapolis and Hastings areas for many years. After moving from Cedar Rapids to Minneapolis, Rick eventually moved to Hastings, where he gained many friendships. He loved designing floral pieces, playing the organ, collecting clocks and helping others in any way he could. Rick enjoyed going for long drives in his prized white Mitsubishi car to Pizza Ranch or to unique spots with friends. He loved being Mr. Taxi driver to the airport or to any out-of-town destinations. Most of all, Rick enjoyed being part of the Siewert family and cherished spending special moments together.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Rick is survived by his siblings, Sandi Nickelson and Randle (Cindy) Meyer; niece, Lisa (TJ) Dvorak; nephew, Chris (Annie) Meyer; close friends, Todd and Joni Siewert and family, and Amy (Pat) Haney; and by his cousins, Mike (Jeri) Schrimper, Laura Roling and Ken (Leslie) Schrimper.

A celebration of Rick's life will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019, with a service at 5:30 p.m. all in the Champs Room at Green Mill in Hastings. Private family interment will be held at Cedar Memorial Park in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
