CEDAR RAPIDS — Jury selection continues Wednesday for a Cedar Rapids man accused of fatally shooting a man on St. Patrick’s Day last year in a Marion bar.
Duval Walker, 30, is charged with first-degree murder and going armed with intent in the shooting of Cameron Barnes, 32, inside Cocktails & Company, 1625 Blairs Ferry Rd. Walker pleaded Tuesday to a third charge — being a felon in possession of a firearm — before jury selection began, according to court documents.
Testimony could start Wednesday afternoon or Thursday. The trial is expected to go into next week.
According to a criminal complaint, Walker was captured on surveillance video punching Barnes in the face in the bar on March 17, 2023. A fight followed and Barnes and Walker were separated by other patrons or staff. Walker then pulled out a handgun and hid it behind his leg while he charged at Barnes, who he shot once, the complaint stated.
