Marjorie “Marge” Lee Morris, 90, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at The Villages at Marion Assisted Living. The family will greet friends from 4 - 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, Iowa. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 8, 2024, at Lovely Lane United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids. Burial will follow at Dunkard Cemetery in Toddville, Iowa.
Marge was born on February 20, 1934, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Charles Leverne and Elizabeth L. (Melvin) Morningstar. She was a 1951 graduate of Marion High School and went on to attend
Cornell College, earning her bachelor’s degree in 1955. On June 16, 1955, Marge was united in marriage to Russell Edward Morris at Trinity United Church in Cedar Rapids. Marge was a member and very involved in Lovely Lane United Methodist Church. She taught piano for 44 years out of her house and often played the piano at church and at the assisted living home. Marge was a fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs. She enjoyed watching the wildlife in her yard. Spending time with her family meant the most to her. Marge will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Marge is survived and lovingly remembered by her children, Dan (Shirley) Morris, Brenda Borden, and Paul (Robin) Morris; five grandchildren, Angie (Billy) Hallam, Sean (Amanda) Starr, Jennie Morris, Rook Wilde (Kelsey) Dunn, and Zephyr (Brooke) Borden; and many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russell; an infant son, Brent Richard Morris; daughter, Karla Morris; and three siblings.
Memorials in her honor can be directed to the Lovely Lane United Methodist Church or Matthew 25.
