PPEL is a public investment for public benefit

This past week was Public Schools Week. Public education, though not mentioned in our Constitution, has always been part of the conversation in our country. We have repeated documentation that the founders of our country believed education was critical to maintaining our democracy; in order to govern ourselves and maintain that right, we need to be armed with knowledge to do so. Even stating that it was essential for what we now call the American dream. They felt that education was something the public should invest in, because the public benefits from making sure that all citizens, regardless of means, could learn.
Coincidentally, we, as Linn-Mar community members, are tasked with carrying on that legacy by voting to continue investing in the PPEL fund which is used to maintain and improve our facilities and equipment. This keeps our schools sound and comfortable for all students to gain that critical education the founders talked about.
Based on the average home value in the Linn-Mar district, the average individual contribution is less than $11 a month. I personally cannot think of a way that I would see a better return on my investment with that money in my pocket than what I see by sending it to the schools. Not only is it my children’s future, but it is all of our futures. It is the appeal of our community and our home values we are investing in as well.
Make a plan and vote YES to renewing PPEL on March 5th.
