Child killed in Cedar County UTV crash

An 11-year-old from Wheatland, Iowa was killed Tuesday in a utility terrain vehicle crash in rural Wheatland, according to a crash report from the Iowa State Patrol.
The 11-year-old was a passenger in a UTV that was being driven Tuesday by a 10-year-old, also from Wheatland, in the 2300 block of 210th Street in rural Cedar County. At about 6 p.m., the driver lost control of the vehicle, which entered the ditch next to the road and rolled.
Both children were taken via ambulance to Genesis East Hospital in Davenport where the 11-year-old died. The crash report does not indicate the severity of the other child’s injuries.
The children are not identified in the crash report. The Iowa State Patrol was assisted in responding to the crash by Bennett Ambulance and Fire, Clarence Ambulance, Lowden first responders, the Tipton Police Department and the Cedar County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
