Hawkeyes try to bounce back after Thursday’s loss at Indiana

What to know: Iowa’s Big Ten regular-season title hopes took a nosedive Thursday when the Hawkeyes were battered by No. 14 Indiana, 86-69, at Bloomington.
Iowa trails Ohio State by two games with three to play, including the Buckeyes-Hawkeyes showdown March 3 at Iowa City.
Illinois beat Indiana, 86-66, three days earlier at Champaign.
The Hawkeyes lead the series, 60-20, but the Illini prevailed in their lone meeting last season, 90-86, at Champaign. Iowa had won seven straight before that.
Iowa’s Caitlin Clark is averaging 32.4 points and 8.5 assists per game, and leads the nation in both categories. She posted 24 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists against Indiana, but was 8-of-26 from the field.
Last year’s surprise of the Big Ten, Illinois was a disappointment through the early stages of this season. But the Illini have found their footing lately with five wins in their last seven games to climb into a tie for seventh place.
Makira Cook (14.8 points per game) and Genesis Bryant (14.1) lead Illinois in scoring.
Iowa’s Hannah Stuelke (.630) and Illinois’ Kendall Bostic (.618) are second and third in the Big Ten in field-goal percentage.
Gabbie Marshall needs five points to reach the 1,000-point mark for her Iowa career.
