Robert J. “Bob” Frimml, 87, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Newhall, with Rev. Jacob Dunne as Celebrant. Interment with graveside military rites, will be held at St. John Cemetery in Newhall. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:30 PM on Monday, also at the church. A memorial fund has been established.
Bob was born June 7, 1936, in rural Norway, the son of Cecil and Luella (Stallman) Frimml.
He graduated from Blairstown High School, with the class of 1955. He served his Country in the United States Army in Korea. Bob was united in marriage to Marlys Werning on May 31, 1975, at St. John Lutheran Church in Newhall.
Bob was a lifelong farmer, and raised cattle, hogs, and sheep, as well as being a grower for Pioneer Seed Corn. He also worked at Country Floors and Interiors and the Newhall Feed Store for a number of years. Bob loved the farm life and served on the board of the Benton County Fair for decades. He held memberships in 4-H as a member in his youth and later as a 4-H leader and extension member, the Benton County Cattlemen's Association and the Pork Producers. He was also a proud member of the John Ward McGranahan Post #167 in Newhall. Bob was known for his friendly demeanor and wonderful sense of humor. His greatest joy was following his grandchildren’s activities, he was very proud of them all.
Bob is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marlys; children, Linda Timm of Searcy, AR, Jennifer (Mehrdad) Akbar of Bentonville, AR, Chris (Julie) Frimml of Newhall, Matt Frimml of Eva, AL; 7 grandchildren, Patrick (Jenny) Timm, Parker Williamson, Arman Akbar, Nadia Akbar, Kamran Akbar, Derek Frimml, Ashley (Evan) Lueckenotto; 3 great-grandsons, Henry Timm, Nathan Timm, and Louis Lueckenotto; his sisters, Jane Dietrich, Luann (John) Luthenhaus, Marcia (Don) Bonham, Sandy (Bob) Mantz; brothers, Richard Frimml, and David Frimml, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Margaret Stumpff, and Mary Disterhoft; and brothers, William “Bill” Frimml, and John Frimml.
