Mary was born July 21, 1942, on her mother's 25th birthday in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was the daughter of Dorothy R. (Dewf) Ludlow and Fred E. (Bud) Weber. Mary grew up in Marion, graduating from Marion High School in 1960. Mary married Dick Todd in 1961. Together they had three sons. Brian Michael, Kevin Lee, & Eric Eldon. Dick & Mary later divorced. She went on to marry Fritz Diers in 1972 and they had one son, Jay Scott. Mary loved children. She worked in childcare in many different capacities over the years. She also served as a foster parent for many
children. She loved sewing, home renovations, dancing and country music.
Mary passed away peacefully on January 31, 2024, living with her son Eric due to complications of Lewy Body Dementia.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her ex-husband Fritz, two nephews, McKeon & Wesley Weber,
and her eldest son, Brian Todd.
She is survived by her sons Kevin (Jan) Todd of Omaha, Eric (Molly), & Jay of Denver, CO. Her brother Fred (Judy) Weber, special cousin Lois Foster and niece Erin Weber of Marion. Her grandchildren Alyssa (Stefan) Gahl, Amy Todd, Ashley Todd, Abby Todd. Great-grandchildren Sawyer, Hayden, Skylar, and Oakley Gahl.
A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Marion on Monday March 4, 2024. The visitation will be at 10 am, service at 11 am and lunch following.
Gifts in memorial may be sent to the church.
