Douglas Robert Wade, 74, of Ryan, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Regional Medical Center, Manchester, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home, Manchester. Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, February 26, 2024, with an additional visitation one hour prior to service at Silver Creek Church rural Masonville, with the Reverend Phil Rogers officiating. Burial will take place at Silver Creek Cemetery. Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Manchester is in charge of arrangements.
Douglas was born on September 7, 1949, in Manchester, Iowa, the son of Wilbur and Roberta (Robinson) Wade. He was a graduate of Manchester High School in 1967. After graduation Douglas worked at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids, the Creamery in Ryan and the City of Ryan before working more than 30 years as a Rural Mail Carrier for the United States Postal Service. Douglas grew up in the Ryan Methodist Church, after it closed, he attended the Silver Creek Church. He enjoyed collecting model cars and driving his classic cars to car shows around the area. Douglas also was an avid Hawkeye fan attending many of the football games over the years and watched the Atlanta Braves every chance he could. He also loved attending his nephew and great-nephew’s sporting events and activities with his family, he was one of their biggest fans. Doug will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Douglas is survived by his siblings, Keith (Clista) Wade of Colorado, Marilyn (Gary) Feldmann of Ryan; and his many special nieces and nephews who were a special part of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Roberta Wade; sister, Sharon Cassel; brother, Richard Wade; and great-nephew, William Wade Feldmann.
