Captain Ronald “Ron” Gene Whittaker, 86, of Iowa City, died on Sunday, February 11 at Legacy Point Assisted Living surrounded by his family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Iowa City with Father Troy Richmond officiating. Burial will follow lunch at St. Joseph Cemetery, Iowa City. Prior to the service, family will greet friends 9:30-10:30 am at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Patrick Catholic Church or the Iowa City Fire Department.
Ron is survived by his children: Scott (Stacie) Whittaker of Boone, IA, Mark (Carrie) Whittaker and Bret Whittaker all of Iowa City; five beloved grandchildren: Riley, Nicholas (Ellie Wallace), Abigail, Grace and Anna; and his brother, Gary (Joyce) Marburger of Sherman, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Sally in 2022.
