Virginia Belle Wilson Ross, 93, passed away on February 11, 2024. She was born in Sabula, Iowa on January 17, 1931, to Edwin and Edith (Papke) Robinson.
Virginia attended Sabula High School, where soon after graduation, she met and married her first husband and father of her three children, Robert “Bob” Wilson, who passed away in March of 1982. She later married Allen Ross in 1991. She worked for Collins Radio after working in the white room (lab), making circuit breakers for Apollo 11 in 1969, until her retirement. Some of her interests included gardening, sewing, quilting, dancing, baking, and reading. She especially loved to travel with Allen, which included trips to Europe, cruises, and RVing all over the states. Ginny loved the Cubs, and cheered for the Hawkeyes, and the Cyclones.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Robert; parents Edwin and Edith; sisters Ellie Cox Western, Rose Dillard Belk, Viola Smith, June Rogers; and her brother Cliff Robinson.
Virginia was survived by her current husband Allen; children Roberta (Tom) Chaplin, Cal (Kim) Wilson, and Lori (Patrick) McGowan; brother Robert Robinson; sister Micky Meaney; 7 grandchildren, Tracy (Alan) Read, Robert (Liesl) Chaplin, Brandon (Lily) Wilson, Lauren (Tom) Swain, Ellie (Weston) Jones, Audrey McGowan, and Lily McGowan; and 17 great-grandchildren, with one on the way.
Services will be held at Marion Methodist Church in Marion, Iowa on February 15, 2024, at 12:00 pm. A visitation will be held prior, beginning at 11:00 am. There will be a luncheon following services at the Church. Ginny will be inurned with Bob at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
