Coralville company inks Qatar deal
Innovas to supply air-conditioning tube cleaning tech to Persian Gulf company
CORALVILLE — Coralville-based Innovas Technologies has announced an international deal in which it will be supplying its automatic air-conditioning tube cleaning to a major energy facility in Doha, Qatar.
The company’s Helios Tube Cleaning System will optimize the energy efficiency of air-conditioning systems for the Lusail Marina expansion, a major district energy facility in Doha, Qatar.
Marafeq, a Qatari company, is an advanced utility provider and leading developer of district cooling in the Middle East and the world. Companies like Marafeq are supplying air conditioning for the vast expansion of commercial buildings in the Persian Gulf region.
Specifically, the company said, this project will cut energy consumption in Qatar by 10 million kilowatt-hours annually and reduce its CO2 emissions by 60,000 tons over the next 15 years — equivalent to planting 90,000 trees every year.
“We’re thrilled to have our technology selected to improve energy efficiency at one the world's premier district cooling company,” Charles “Chuck” Dirks, president of Innovas Technologies, said in a news release.
“The Qatari economy has become home to many of the world’s most advanced sustainability designs, and they have taken the initiative to embrace Innovas' quality and innovation and recognize the value it brings to them.”
Dirks said the Innovas’ products are designed and fabricated in Iowa.
“This is a tremendous opportunity to introduce our current and emerging technologies to Qatar and the rest of the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council,” he said.
The Helios system eliminates air-conditioning tube fouling, contributing to chilled water plant optimization. The system injects cleaning balls into the entry point of heat exchanger tubes and collects them in a trap at the heat exchanger’s exit. It gently “wipes” the insides of the tubes clean, eliminating bio scale and preventing deposits from accumulating.
Innovas Technologies manufactures energy efficiency solutions for the university, hospital, industrial and refining sectors.
