Carolyn Jeanne Sweet, 82, of Ely, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2018, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Celebration of life services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at Brosh Chapel & The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Burial will

be in Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Friday at Brosh Chapel.

Carolyn was born June 26, 1936, in Washington, D.C., the daughter of Willard and Grace (Cook) Sharp. She graduated from Clarion High School and Mercy School of Nursing. She married Gerald "Jerry" Sweet on Oct. 12, 1958, in Clarion. Carolyn was a registered nurse at Mercy Medical Center for over 40 years. She was a founding member of Mercy Home Health.

Carolyn was a member of the Antique Automobile Car Club of America and the Eastern Star. She enjoyed upholstering cars, traveling, going to Hershey, Pa., for annual swap meets, occasional trips to the casino, gardening and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Carolyn is survived by her sons, Jon (Sandra) Sweet of Ely and Dave Sweet of St. Paul, Minn.; three daughters, Diane (Jeff) Harms and Donna (Mike) Franks, both of Cedar Rapids, and Janet (Tae) Sweet-Chung of Marion; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; her sister, Janet Henson of Texas; her brother, Frank (Christine) Sharp of Clarion; her sister-in-law, Diane Sharp of Boone; as well as her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald, on Aug. 22, 2015; a son, Dale; a daughter, Beth Ann; her brother George Sharp; and a brother-in-law, Jim Henson.
