Darryl Harper, age 67, of Cedar Rapids, IA, passed away at the UnityPoint St. Luke’s Hospital on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Monday, February 12, 2024, from 12 noon until the service time at 1 PM with St. Croix Hospice Chaplain, Gordon Lewis presiding.
Darryl was born on December 2, 1956, in Chicago, IL. He was the son of the late Eddie and Lillian (Davis) Harper. Darryl was a Veteran in the US Army and enjoyed his job at the Parker-Hannifan Corporation until his retirement. Darryl liked having everything in his life to be clean and pristine. He loved watching the Chicago Bulls basketball team and was always there to give a “life-lesson” if necessary.
Those left to cherish Darryl’s memory are the love of his life and lifelong friend Judy Cornelius, of Cedar Rapids, IA; his step-daughters, Angela (Montana) Henricksen, of Des Moines, Andrea (Chris) King, of Cedar Rapids, and Alysha Cornelius of Cedar Rapids, IA; his grandchildren, Camron, Olivia, Aliyah, and Aubriana; his brothers, Donald (Tracie) Harper of Jacksonville, FL, Eddie Harper of Chicago, IL, and a sister, Tonetta Harper of Bellwood, IL; his beloved dog Champ, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
