Timothy B. “Tim” Cook, 58, of Iowa City and Pleasant Hill, died peacefully Saturday at home.
Visitation will begin at 10 AM, Friday, February 9, 2024 at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City, followed by the funeral service at 11 AM, officiated by Rev. Alberta Ervin. A luncheon will follow at the Kirkwood Room. Graveside committal will be at 1:30 PM, Friday at Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Friends of the Animal Center Foundation (FACF). Tim was committed to rescuing animals as he did with his TJ.
Tim was born January 2, 1966 in Iowa City, the son of William and Karla (Hughes) Cook. He was a 1984 graduate of Iowa City City High School and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa. In 1992 Tim received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Kansas, Lawrence.
Tim was an attorney with the Iowa Board of Regents specializing in Labor Relations. Prior to that he was an attorney for Iowa State University.
Tim enjoyed time spent traveling. He was a history buff and sports enthusiast. Most important to Tim were his family and devoted friends. Tim was a member of the Iowa State Bar Association and the Kennedy Library.
Tim is survived by his mother, Karla and sister, Brenda (Steve) Hodnett of Newton; nephews, Michael and Thomas; aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Tim was preceded in death by his father in November of 2023 and his grandparents.
