Doris Mae Achenbach Howe, 94, of Tipton, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2024 while under the care of Prairie Hills Assisted Living in Tipton. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at 10:30 am, Fry Funeral Home, Tipton, with Rev. Ronald Lashmit officiating. Burial will follow in the Shawver Cemetery in Cedar Bluff, Iowa. Visitation for Doris will be on Tuesday, February 6th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Fry Funeral Home. Doris was born on November 27, 1929 in Cedar County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Charlie Alexander Achenbach and Nellie Irene Mason Achenbach. From grades 1 – 8, Doris attended Cass #2 and Linn #1 country schools and then spent grades 9 – 12 at Tipton Community School. On February 28, 1953, Doris was united in marriage to Wilson Dean Howe in the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa. Together they worked on their farm and raised their four children. Doris was very talented. She spent time sewing, quilting, crocheting and baking Kolaches. Doris loved dancing and fishing and would often have fish fries for family and friends. She and Wilson loved to spend their winters in Texas.
Surviving are her four children, Harlan (Karen) Howe, Janet (David) Wethington, Diana (Bill) Zach and Lori (Steve) Guck; grandchildren, Julie Burrichter, Kyle Zach, Nicole Zach, Logan Howe, Austin Howe and Kalyn Moore; 18 great-grandchildren and one on the way. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Wilson Howe, her son-in-law, Dennis Ruggeberg and her infant granddaughter and grandson, Owen Burrichter.
