Marvin Roy McArthur, 79, of Walker, Iowa, died Friday, February 2, 2024. A visitation will be held from 4 - 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Center Point, Iowa. A funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at First Christian Church in Center Point. Burial will follow at Center Point Cemetery.
Marvin was born February 3, 1944, in rural Linn County, Iowa, the son of James and Marie (Wickham) McArthur. He graduated from Center Point Consolidated High School, Class of 1962. Marvin was united in marriage to Linda Ann Johnson on June 4, 1966, at First Christian Church. He worked as a farmer and then for the Linn County Road Department for 34 years. Marvin was a member of First Christian Church.
Marvin enjoyed cattle-farming, hunting, fishing, gardening, and bonfires. He loved tinkering around, canning, playing cards with his family, and watching his grandchildren play sports. A special thank-you to his nieces and nephews that shared cherished times with him. Marvin’s greatest time spent was with his family.
Survivors include his children, Annette Kohl of Walker, Kristine (Brian) Carter of Tipton, and Jeffrey (Heather) McArthur of Center Point; grandchildren, Tyler Kohl, Courteney (Kentrel) Smith, Tessa Kohl, Brandon McArthur (Alex Foreman), Tallie Kohl, and Gavin McArthur; great-grandchild, Juniper McArthur; and siblings, Jeanette (Bruce) Sholes of Walker, and Joan Mabb of Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda; parents, James and Marie McArthur; and brother, Melvin McArthur.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the staff at Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehab facility, for their excellent care shown to Marvin.
