Bird is a hypocrite to support Trump

I read the article regarding Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird calling for heightened penalties for assaults on police and find her hypocrisy unbelievable. While I fully support stronger penalties for these acts against law enforcement, health care workers and civil servants, I know that she fully supports Trump, who incited a deadly, violent attack on our government. His misinformed mob pummeled the Capitol police with metal flagpoles and other weapons while defiling our Capitol. They did this because of The Big Lie that Trump continues to propagate to his violent base.
Also during the pandemic, health care workers were subjected to more violence because of the lies spread in the far right conspiracy world which Trump could have easily prevented by telling the truth about COVID instead of downplaying its danger. Trump’s untrue rhetoric is also responsible for intimidation and threats against our citizens who step up and help run our elections, so much so that many of these senior citizens have decided that the threat is not worth it for them, leaving our elections short-staffed.
Brenna Bird, like so many Republican politicians, seems to have selective memory and hearing when it comes to facts. Perhaps she could spend her time more productively by stopping the refusal of paying for rape victims Plan B care (paid for out of fines paid by criminals and not tax dollars) instead of campaigning for the man who is responsible for the PTSD, maiming, and deaths of our Capitol Police officers.
