Richard “Dick” Lee Brezina, 84, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024.
Richard Lee Brezina was born May 16, 1939, in Vining, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Rose (Balvin) Brezina. After graduating high school, he served in the U.S. Army.
On September 16, 1961, he married Marion “Faye” DeMeyer at Belle Plaine, Iowa. Dick worked at Hawkeye Ready-Mix for many years, retiring in 2001.
He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family. He was greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
Survivors include his children, Ricky (Gina) of South Korea, Timothy (Kellye) of Atlanta, Chad (Heidi) of Swisher and Jill of Cedar Rapids; siblings, Rosie Hartmeyer of Belle Plaine, Margie (Rodney) Emerson of Belle Plaine, Marcella (Jim) Cline of Swisher, Arlene (Bill) Tubbs of Swisher, Caroline Zach of Guttenberg, Bernard (Sharon) Brezina of Tama; sister and brothers-in-law, Jack (Sandy) DeMeyer of Belle Plaine, Rose Rhinehart of Cedar Rapids, Gary (Liz) DeMeyer of Fairfield.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, spouse Marion “Faye” Brezina in 2014; siblings, Lillian Lund, Edward Brezina, Gladys Brezina, Joseph Brezina Jr., Leonard Brezina; brother-in-law, Steve Rhinehart.
Funeral services with military rites will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, where visitation starts at 9:00 am.
Entombment will be held in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
