Kenneth “Ken” August Horstman, 83, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Terrace Glenn Village in Marion. Family will greet friends from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Darran Whiting officiating.
Ken was born on September 23, 1940, in Guttenberg, Iowa, the son of Harvey John and Elsie Roselyn (Friedlein) Horstman. He was a graduate of Guttenberg High School and went on to work for Rockwell Collins until his retirement in 1999. On November 27, 1959, Ken was united in marriage to Marlene Ellen Symons in Galena, Illinois. He and Marlene loved to travel, especially on their annual trip to Branson, Missouri. He loved the Iowa Hawkeyes, metal detecting, and hunting for ginseng. Ken was an avid hunter and fisherman. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ken is survived and lovingly remembered by his two sons, Michael (Char) Horstman and Mark Horstman; grandson, Eric (Bre) Horstman; great-grandchildren, Brooks and Avery; brother, Dennis (Susan) Horstman; many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marlene Horstman; many brothers and sisters and two nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be directed to the family.
