Cedar Rapids police investigate homicide at apartment complex

CEDAR RAPIDS — A 29-year-old man was found injured Wednesday night outside a southeast Cedar Rapids apartment complex and later died at a hospital, police said.
Cedar Rapids police said they were called at 8:59 p.m. Wednesday about an injured person at 1258 15th St. SE. When officers arrived, they found the man — whose name has not yet been released — outside the building.
He was treated at the scene and taken to a hospital, where he later died. Police did not describe the nature of his injuries, but said the death was a homicide -- the city’s first in 2024.
Police said the incident remains an active investigation and did not announce any suspect has been detained or arrested.
