James Kenneth Stark, 60,
of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, March 19, 2018, at Evergreen Estates in Cedar Rapids. Services: 1 p.m. Friday at Cedar Hills Community Church by
Pastor Kent Landhuis. Burial: Buckingham Cemetery, Traer. Friends may visit with the family on Friday after noon
at the church. Teahen

Jim is survived by his mother, Joan Stark Laughrige of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Dr. Jennifer (Kevin) Johnson of Orlando, Fla., and Carrie (Keith) Douglas of Cumming, Ga.; a brother, John Stark of Phoenix, Ariz.; two stepsisters, Dana (Harold) Pherigo of Ottumwa, and Darla (Paul) Bastron of Kenosha, Wis.; five nieces and nephews; two great-nephews; three stepnieces and nephews; four great-stepnieces and nephews; and special friends, Dave and Joann Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Craig D. Stark, and stepfather, Robert J. Laughrige.
James was born on June 28, 1957, in Dayton, Ohio, at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base, the son of Dr. Craig and Joan Diel Stark, and graduated in 1975 from North Tama County Community High School in Traer. Jim completed three years at Iowa State University in 1978 with a major in animal science and in 1988 received his A.S., Laser/Electro-Optics Technology at Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa. Jim worked for Spectra-Physics in Mountain View, Calif., from 1988 to 1990. In 1990, Jim began working for SMR Inc. in Santa Clara, Calif., and later moved to Plymouth, Mich., where he worked for Rofin Sinar as a laser technical engineer. Jim enjoyed NASCAR, watching college sports, music, fishing and hunting. He was an active participant at Cedar Hills Community Church in Cedar Rapids. He always had a great attitude and was a beautiful person inside.
