Even non-sports fans appreciate sportswriter Hlas’ columns

I’m a 73-year-old woman who does not follow sports (except the Super Bowl … the commercials, duh!) Then why do I read Mike Hlas’s columns in the Sports section of The Gazette? Because he’s such a good writer! His columns are clever and interesting and I always learn something whether I intend to or not. And I’ll admit, it’s fun to occasionally throw out some relevant sports tidbit around people who know I don’t follow sports; they look at me like, “Is she leading a double life somewhere else?”
So thanks to Mike. And if a beagle ever wins the NCAA pool (Gazette, Jan. 14,) Mike will tell me all about it.
