Iowa City police are investigating threats made over the phone Thursday to a Mercy Hospital clinic, which caused the Mercy Hospital system and Regina Catholic Center schools to lock down.
The police were informed at 8:43 a.m. Thursday about “an agitated individual making threats over the phone to a specific Mercy Hospital clinic,” according to a police news release.
In accordance with hospital protocol, Mercy Hospital locked down its facilities in response to the threat. Regina schools also locked down, although no threats have been made against the schools specifically. There is a Mercy Clinic on the same block as Regina schools, but the news release did not state whether that was the clinic that was targeted.
