Thomas W. Hamilton, 88, of Olin passed away peacefully on Monday, January 15, 2024 at Harmony in Cedar Rapids.
A visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Dawson Funeral Services in Olin. His funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Friday, January 19, 2024 at Dawson Funeral Services in Olin. Burial will be at Stanwood Cemetery in Stanwood.
Thomas Wayne was born on July 24, 1935 in Iowa to Theodore and Dorothy (Buck) Hamilton. He graduated from Wyoming High School in 1953. Thomas faithfully served in the United States Army. On August 7, 1956 he married the love of his life Faye Daab in Rock Island, IL. Thomas and Faye farmed on Faye’s family farm before retiring. He drove part time for the Martelle co-op and River Valley. Thomas was an avid hunter of all kinds, he enjoyed fishing, attending his children and grandchildren’s activities, and in his younger years he coached little league in Olin. He loved to travel to different eating establishments with his wife to socialize. Thomas enjoyed playing cards at the Olin Legion.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Faye, four children; Terry (Terri) Hamilton of Olin, Thomas Hamilton of Mechanicsville, Michael Hamilton of Olin, and Kim Kelsey of Mechanicsville; three grandchildren; Nicole Tjaden, Todd Hamilton, Amber Kelsey; nine great-grandchildren; Jordan, Randal, Landen, Gage, Titus, Jadyn, Jillian, Jazzy, Liam; two sisters, Sandra Conley of Anamosa and Linda (Roger) Workman of Cedar Rapids; one brother, Richard Hamilton of Oskaloosa.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son Kenneth, son-in-law Wayne, two brothers Larry and Don, two sisters Yvonne Merrill and Janet Bodkin.
