It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Brian Allen Swenson who passed away early Saturday morning, January 13th after a short illness at the age of 66.
Brian was born in Mason City, Iowa on October 7th, 1957, to parents Tom Allen and Joann Swenson. After graduating from Mason City High School, he studied and obtained a bachelor’s degree at Northern Iowa University in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
After graduation, he started his lifetime career at Rockwell International in Cedar Rapids, Iowa as a contractor and then transferred to the Finance Department in later years. He retired and spent half of the year in Surprise, Ariz., as a caregiver for his mother in Sun City Grand and the other half in Cedar Rapids, Iowa at his residence.
After retirement, Brian spent time in Surprise, Ariz., reading, baking, playing pickle ball, tennis, baseball, golf and supporting neighborhood activities. He was a volunteer for many neighbors and friends in the community whenever they needed his help and will be greatly missed by all he assisted throughout the years.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Tom Allen, Aunt and Uncle, Glen and Karen Butler, Uncles John and Kay Swenson, Grandmother, Lillian Stupka, and Grandparents, Melvin and Josephine Swenson. He is survived by his mother, Joanne Swenson, sisters Susan Swenson and Linda Nikpour, and nephews, Jordan David, Armond Nikpour, Anthony Molinari, and nieces Dawn Molinari, Diana David, Ama Molinari, Alex Molinari, AJ Molinari, Shahla and Nina Nikpour.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 19th, 2024, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 14818 W. Deer Valley Dr. Sun City West, AZ 85375 with viewing at 10:00 am and Mass scheduled at 11:00 am. Burial will take place at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, 23015 N. Cave Creek Rd. Phoenix, AZ 85024.
