Catherine “Cathy” Troll, 72, of Cedar Rapids died on Friday, January 12, 2024 from lung cancer after living with it for 15 years. She never smoked! Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 19, 2024 at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church by Pastor Bonnie Koeppen. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home. Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Anamosa.
Cathy is survived by her son, Mark (Erin) Troll; daughter Leeann (Caleb) Moses; grandchildren, Clayton Bockoven, Coree Troll, Addilyn, Nash and Emme Moses; her Belmond family, Terry and Carla Nelson, Tammy and Wayne DuVall, Anna Duvall and Tyler Nelson.
Cathy was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas; parents, Cecil and Faye Carstens; grandchildren baby Dallas Moses, and twins, Nellie and Gracie Moses; sister, Dixie Lee Friel; brother, Larry Carstens and Belmond family members, Bob and Emma Nelson.
Cathy was born on May 31, 1951 in Belmond, IA the daughter of Cecil and Faye Carstens. She graduated from Belmond High School in 1970. Cathy then attended Mason City School of Cosmetology and worked in Mason City and Killians in Cedar Rapids.
Cathy married Dallas Troll on September 7, 1974 at the Methodist Church in Belmond. Dallas died in November 1984. Cathy and Dallas had two children, Mark who was 3.5 years old when his dad died and Leeann who was born in May 1985, after her dad’s death.
Mark, Leeann and her grandchildren where Cathy’s whole life as she was theirs.
Cathy and her family would like to thank Dr. Richard Pope, Dr. David Zenk, Dr. William Fussleman and all of the staff at the Nassif Cancer Center, PCI for all the great care and friendship that was given to them.
They would also like to thank all of Cathy’s dearest friends that were always there to help and spend time with her.
Memorials may be given to St. Mark’s Methodist Church and the Nassif Cancer Wellness Center.
