Penguins love to eat fish. Some of the fish they eat are sprats, mullet and lantern fish.
Follow these instructions to make your own rainbow fish you can stick on the fridge. In addition to the craft kit, which you can pick up from the Cedar Rapids Public Library, you also will need a pair of scissors.
If you don't want to pick up the kit, you will need at least five sheets of colorful paper, scissors and a pencil to trace or draw the outline of a fish. You can also use a googly eye and a strip magnet to put your fish on your fridge.
To pick up a free craft kit, call 319-261-READ for more information.
Peel off the glue dot and stick it to the back of the googly eye. Put the eye on. Peel off the magnet and stick it on the back of your fish. Cut the fins to match the shape of your fish, give your fish a name and let him or her go for a swim on your fridge. (Photo credit Victoria Fernandez/Cedar Rapids Public Library)
In your bag is a template of a fish, strips of paper, a magnet, a glue dot and a googly eye.
Cut out your fish, fold it in half (head to tail) and cut about four lines making sure you don't go all the way to the end of the fish.
Lay your fish flat on a smooth surface.
Weave the strips of paper in and out (it's a little tricky, but you can do it).
