Gary Lynn Nosek, 73, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 5, 2024, at Troy Mills Christian Church. Memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the Church with Pastor Don McGarvey officiating. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.
Gary was born on August 20, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Keson and Winifred (Olsen) Nosek. He was a 1968 graduate of Kennedy High School and went on to graduate from Iowa State University with a bachelor’s degree in biology. On December 28, 2001, Gary was united in marriage to Sharon L. Conway in Golden, Colorado. He worked at Rockwell Collins for 20 years, then the Gazette for five years, and Cargill for five years until his retirement in 2012. Gary was a member of the Troy Mills Christian Church. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Gary is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Sharon Nosek of Marion; son, Neal Nosek of Pacific Beach, Washington; stepchildren, Tony (Sabrina) Kramer of Tahaollah, Washington, Todd (Marlene) Conway of Marion, Carol (Steve) Zieser of Marion, Daniel (Linda) Conway of Cedar Rapids, Rod (Penny) Conway of Coggon, Iowa, and Holly Brown of Marion; 20 step grandchildren; 13 step great-grandchildren; and one brother, Terry Nosek of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
