IOWA CITY - Employees at a the Coralville Dairy Queen, 904 Second St., made 150 blizzards to be delivered to Iowa Hawkeye football players after practice on Thursday.
The Hawkeyes are taking part in the annual “Miracle Treat Day,” where proceeds from every Blizzard sale go towards the Children's Miracle Network to help support the University of Iowa Children's Hospital.
11-year-old Olivia Kellicut, who has battled leukemia off-and-on for nearly eight years stopped by to see all the blizzards. Kellicut even took some time to pitch in and help.
“We put (chocolate chips) in and mixed it around," said Kellicut. "Then we took out the metal piece and we had the blizzard!"
“Miracle Treat Day,” is a one day event, set this year for Thursday, August 11th. Kellicut said she hopes lots of Eastern Iowan's will take time to buy a Blizzard, which she said will help out everyone at the UI Children's Hospital.
