MICHAEL JUVENAL
Coraville
Michael Juvenal passed away Thursday, Oct. 18, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
No words can describe the profound loss of an amazing friend, husband, father, confidante and mentor. He loved deeply and completely and was loved in return. He was born in Maryville, Mo., on July 13, 1946, to Joseph and Mary Juvenal and grew up in Kansas City, Mo. He was a proud alum of the University of Missouri, graduating with a BSW in 1968 and an MSW in 1970. Michael spent his career at VA hospitals across the country, retiring in 1999 in Iowa City as Chief of Social Work. He was a devoted husband and companion to his wife, Karen, for 44 years and adoring father to Sara and Rebecca. His dry, sometimes inappropriate sense of humor was legendary. He loved the arts and the outdoors. He loved to sing and volunteered for many worthy causes. He had a weakness for classic cars and was always transferring titles.
He is survived by Karen, Sara (Erik Iverson), Rebecca (Casey Ryan); three grandsons, Wesley, Evan and Holden; his half-sister and stepfather; and many other loving relatives. We will all miss his chuckle, dumb jokes, words of wisdom, and unwavering support.
Mike's final cocktail hour will be held Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City with a sharing of memories at 6:30 p.m.
Instead of flowers or plants, memorials may be directed to the ACLU or American Diabetes Association. See more at www.lensingfuneral.com.
